Webmaster's notes:

I think I have found this family in the 1841 census where John is listed as a farmer at Nethermuir, New Deer. The entry shows the other children listed here as well as William and James (who is 1 day old and unnamed).
Details come from John's death register entry in GRO. John's parents are given as John + Martha Grieve [J8] of New Deer. The death was registered by Alex Strachan, son-in-law, which led me to Martha's marriage details on IGI?
Isabel Hay has found another daughter from this family. She wrote:

My husband's 2xg grandmother Jane Hacket, aged 79, widow of Robert Hacket, Blacksmith, d.30 Jan 1900 at Tollhouse, Tillyfourie, Monymusk. Her death cert. shows her parents to be John Mutch, Crofter & Carrier; Janet Mutch, ms Gibson. According to the censuses she was born in Peterhead between 1821-1823, although I have not found her baptism.

In 1851 along with Jane & Robert at Flushing, Longside, is her sister Mary Mutch, age 16, also b. Peterhead.
